Industry 4.0 ready
The switch can communicate in combination with an EUCHNER IO-Link Gateway, and sends process and device data to higher-level control systems. Comprehensive diagnostic messages enable rapid and targeted troubleshooting.Function
The safety switch CTA combines the proven principle of operation of electromechanical safety switches with guard locking and modern transponder-coded safety engineering. Thanks to the transponder technology, even a single CTA achieves category 4/PL e according to EN ISO 13849-1, without additional fault exclusion, and meets all the requirements of EN ISO 14119. It is ideally suited to applications in which a high Performance Level and a high locking force are required.
Versatile use
The CTA reliably secures safety doors and flaps on machines and systems. The CTA is suitable even for the harshest and dirtiest environments. Thanks to the integrated guard locking and guard lock monitoring, it can be used both for process protection and the protection of personnel. Its compact design permits space-saving mounting on the guard. With a locking force of 8,000 N the CTA effectively prevents the opening of safety doors.
The very robust metal housing with metal head as well as the high degree of protection IP65/IP67/IP69/IP69K make the CTA the all-rounder for almost every industrial use.
Mounting and principle of operation
The CTA consists of two components: a safety switch and a separate actuator. The safety switch is mounted on the fixed part of the guard, the actuator on the movable part. The CTA can be approached from four directions. For improved insertion of the actuator, the head is equipped with an integrated funnel. This feature is particularly advantageous on unstable door designs as well as if the door is incorrectly adjusted. When the guard is closed, the actuator moves into the head on the safety switch.
The safety outputs are switched on if the integrated transponder chip in the actuator is detected and the guard locking activated. Thanks to the integrated prevention of inadvertent locking position (faulty closure protection), unintentional activation of the safety outputs is prevented if the actuator is not completely inserted into the head.
Diagnostic information
The safety switches of series CTA can forward comprehensive diagnostic information to the control system. The devices supply process-relevant parameters in real time. They even provide information on preventive maintenance. The sensors measure relevant parameters in the surroundings to indicate problems before a machine failure can occur. In combination with the IO-Link Gateways GWY-CB and ESM-CB, this information is polled from every switch and provided to the control system via IO-Link.
System Family BR
In the BR version up to 20 safety switches CTA or other EUCHNER products that belong to the BR system family can be connected in series. 2 different wiring concepts are available:Series connection in the control cabinet:
Wiring takes place in the control cabinet. All information about the status of individual CTAs can be forwarded directly to the control system.
Series connection in the field:
For field wiring, EUCHNER offers the option of using M12 plugs and Y-distributors to connect together several CTAs.
Instead of the Y-plug connectors, it is also possible to use a passive distribution module. On this device, all safety and status signals are collected together in the field and forwarded to the control system using one cable.
