MGB2 Classic - the next generation MGB


The new MGB2 Classic represents the logical further development of the globally successful Multifunctional Gate Box MGB. A revised design, new and extended functions, as well as a modular layout offer maximum flexibility and cost-effectiveness. The MGB2 Classic is more than just pure safety door protection. It makes it possible to integrate into one device all the relevant functions related to the safety door. The MGB2 Classic is suitable for both hinged and sliding doors.

Proven technology enriched with innovations


Like its successful predecessor model, the MGB2 Classic is equipped with a very robust, industrial housing and has an integrated metal door stop, as well as an integrated mounting plate. It can be mounted on doors hinged on the left and right, as well as on sliding doors. Changeover is performed during mounting. The locking force of 2,000 N effectively prevents unintentional opening of the guard. The MGB2 Classic meets the requirements of all relevant standards, e.g. EN ISO 13849 and EN ISO 14119. All screws are equipped with the same Torx-T10 drive so that a single tool is sufficient. These and many other minor improvements in the housing design ease mounting and the connection of the individual system components.

Guard locking types


L1 closed-circuit current principle

  • Activation of the guard locking by applying voltage to the guard locking solenoid.

Flexible adaptation through configuration

The evaluation module can be configured with the aid of DIP switches.
Depending on the setting, the evaluation module behaves like an MGB2-BP or an MGB2-BR device. In addition, guard lock monitoring can be switched on or off on devices with guard locking. When guard lock monitoring is switched on, the safe outputs are switched on if the guard is safely locked. When guard lock monitoring is switched off, the safe outputs are switched on if the guard is closed and the bolt tongue is inserted into the MGB2 Classic. Release monitoring can be activated when guard lock monitoring is switched on. This signals whether the auxiliary release or escape release was actuated. Factor reset permits resetting to the factory setting.

Choice of series connection or separate operation

All devices with MGB2-BR configuration can be wired directly in series without decreasing safety or the PL. This requires fewer evaluation units. Devices with MGB2-BP configuration are particularly suitable for separate operation.

Reset pushbutton


Pressing the pushbutton resets the device. The configuration is retained.

Various types of connection submodules permit versatile modification of the wiring for the MGB2 Classic. Connection modules are available with the following:
