Industry 4.0 ready
Devices of the BR and BP families can communicate and provide a wealth of device data. These data can be transferred via a gateway to a standardized bus system such as IO-Link.Mounting and principle of operation
Design and functionality
The safety switch CES-BP has two safety outputs. These outputs are connected directly to drives, downstream safety relays or safe control systems. The switch monitors itself for short circuits using pulsed signals. External clock signals are therefore not required.Indication for actuator in the limit range
If the safety door with the actuator should settle over time, the actuator can drift out of the read head actuating range. The device recognizes this situation and indicates that the actuator is in the limit range. This allows the safety door to be readjusted in time.OD/C output (door monitoring output)
The semiconductor output OD is switched if the guard is closed (actuator in the actuating range). It is not allowed to be used for safety functions.Diagnostic output OD/C (depending on version)
Door monitoring output OD:
The door monitoring output is switched on as soon as a valid actuator is detected in the actuating range.
Communication output OC:
The communication output is used for information exchange with a BR IO-Link Gateway (e.g. GWY-CB-.-BR-IO). The devices supply process-relevant parameters in real time. They even provide information on preventive maintenance. The weak-range indication provides timely information about whether the actuator is in the transponder field’s limit range, for example. This situation usually occurs when safety doors settle over time, causing the actuator to drift out of the actuating range. The sensors measure relevant parameters in the surroundings to indicate problems before a machine failure can occur (predictive maintenance). When the Gateway is used, this information is polled and provided to the control system via IO-Link.
Connection to safe control systems or safety relays
The system family BP is intended to be used for separate operation. The devices are particularly suitable for the connection of safety evaluation units and safety control systems that require short test pulses. Some versions have been optimized for direct connection to decentralized peripheral systems, such as the ET200pro series from SIEMENS. The BP devices generate test pulses on the safety outputs for short circuit monitoring. Due to the little wiring work, BP devices represent a low-cost solution.Products (4)
