The Use of Work Equipment Directive 2009/104/EC governs the Provision of work equipment by the employer and its use by the employee. The employer must regularly determine all workplace hazards that could impair the employee’s health and safety and must take measures to limit these hazards. The regular checking period depends on the hazard level, and it is specified more precisely in the German Technical Rules for Operating Safety (TRBS).
Consequently, a hazard assessment must be performed for every workplace in a company. Standardized assessment schemes are used for determining the hazards for reasons of comparability, completeness and efficiency.
